A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, has accused President Akufo-Addo of attempting to prick his eye for criticising his government.
Disclosing the encounter for the first time on Asempa FM’s EkosiiSen, on Tuesday, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said the President would have succeeded if he (Dr. Wereko-Brobby) had not taken a step backwards.
According to him, he met President Akufo-Addo at a funeral after he granted an interview on Joy FM to discuss the state of affairs of the nation.
His comments, apparently, did not excite the President since he had criticised the manner in which the Akufo-Addo-led administration is managing affairs.
On the back of this, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said the President accused him of spreading untruths about his government.
When asked if he was being serious about the assertion, Dr. Wereko-Brobby said, “you can go and ask him.”
The outspoken politician mentioned Dr. Osei Akoto and the Chief of Staff; Akosua Frema Osei-Opare as witnesses of his encounter with President Akufo-Addo.
The pioneer of private media in Ghana, also said it is disappointing to see how the NPP government is currently in a mess after all the support and advice he and some big wigs offered to the President shortly after he assumed office.
According to him, he was giving a weekly memo to President Akufo-Addo to help shape his governance, but his efforts were disregarded, hence, he stopped.
