A panelist on the Strong and Sassy show has stated that it is not advisable to have a bestie of the opposite sex.
According to Gifty Yeboah Preko, having a ‘bestie’ of the opposite sex is dangerous because most people are fragile and are likely to seek emotional comfort from their ‘besties’ when their spouses or partners deny them that.
She made the comment on Joy FM’s Strong and Sassy show on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
She noted that emotional maturity varies from person to person, and not everyone has enough control over their emotions, thus, the need to abstain from having a bestie of the opposite sex.
“Your maturity level and your principles may be well defined that you don’t cross the rubicon but most people cannot do that,” she told the host of the show, Animwaa Anim Addo.
“We all are fragile in one way or the other and we all seek emotional comfort and protection from people. So when you’re probably being battered at home, you seek [emotional comfort] elsewhere and that’s why it’s not advisable to keep a male bestie unless of course you are determined that you’re dating the person,” she said.
