Inter Allies says the "club has been used as a scapegoat" by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following their demotion to division two by the association.
Allies, which was found culpable by the football governing body and sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee in May for alleged match-fixing in a game the team lost 7-0 in the 2020/2021 Ghana premier league, claim it has been 'punished severely' despite the failure of the association to establish how the club benefitted from the outcome of the match.
"Inter Allies Football Club disagrees with the Disciplinary Committee ruling on the case, and also disagrees with the reasoning of the Appeals Committee in affirming the decision of the Disciplinary Committee," Club Vice President, Delali Senaye, said in a statement on Thursday.
"...the grounds of our appeal was not looked at; let alone considered," it alleged.
Allies will consider the possibility of challenging the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Portions of the statement revealed that the alleged third party, Emmanuel Nii Amoah Gogo, whose evidence was used by the GFA to demote the club did not speak to any player or official of the club of any approach from any third party before the match.
"As established by prosecution in its investigative report on paragraph 11, Emmanuel Nii Amoah Gogo did not to any official(s) of Inter Allies football club about the approaches of a third party to manipulate the outcome of the match.
"Why is Inter Allies Football Club being punished severely for something its officials know nothing about?
"This substantial evidence adduced by the investigative committee, surprisingly, was not mentioned by the Disciplinary Committee in its decision," he noted.
Inter Allies on July 22, 2021, submitted internal findings to the Ghana FA to support its investigations of the match. The internal report identified Nii Amoah Gogo as the individual who allegedly attempted to manipulate the outcome of the match.
The internal inquiry led the FA to establish events in the match, but Allies ended up "being punished based on conjecture and assumptions for being law-abiding," the club intimated.
"As a law-abiding club committed to protecting the sanctity of football, we availed ourselves to all channels to help the Ghana Football Association uneath the truth with all details from our internal inquiry, but we were rather punished based on conjecture and assumptions," it said.
Mr. Senaye, addressing media at the club's secretariat revealed they were described as 'fools' by some members of the football community for handing the FA the ammunition to shoot them to death.
However, Allies will not hesitate to offer the same assistance to the FA should similar events reoccur.
"Inter Allies will enroll players who have been banned into specialised skilled schools to guard against loss of time," the statement concluded.
