Barely 24 hours after taking a crucial decision on Adwoa Safo’s status as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, President Akufo-Addo is in her constituency.
Yesterday, a statement from the Presidency relieved the Dome-Kwabenya legislator of her duties at the Ministry following her absence from post for about a year.
In a statement signed by the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the President said he was minded by Article 81 (a) of the 1992 Constitution in taking the decision.

It added that the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecelia Abena Dapaah, will continue to act as the Caretaker Minister, until President Akufo-Addo appoints a substantive Minister.
This development comes amid a pending decision by the Speaker of Parliament as to whether she remains an MP for her constituency going forward.
Sources say Adwoa Safo is back in the country but is yet to make a public appearance.
But today’s visit by the President is to cut-sod for the rehabilitation of the 23-kilometre Dome-Kitase road project.

This coincides with mixed reactions from a section of the constituents about yesterday's announcement from the Presidency.
While some of the constituents are kicking against her sacking from office, others told JoyNews that the move was long overdue.
