Singer Francisca Gawugah, popularly known as Sista Afia, has shared how her mother sponsored some of her music videos.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Monday, she explained how it is sometimes difficult to get funds to shoot music videos for most of her songs since she is an independent artiste. Under such circumstances, her mother gives her money.
“Sometimes I wouldn’t even have the money to shoot a music video then she will give me money out of her pocket,” said Sista Afia.
According to the singer, her mother paid for the music videos for ‘Party,’ ‘Asuoden,’ and ‘Jeje.’
She also added that she refunds the money to her mum by helping with her projects in Ghana.
“I do refund her money to her, when she needs money to do projects here in Ghana I help her.”
Sista Afia, who is the niece of Ghanaian Bishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, said she wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth.
She lived in Kumasi during her childhood and was selling pastries in her neighborhood before her mother took her to the United Kingdom at age 18.
“I’m a Kumasi girl. I stayed in a compound house where I sold 'bofrot' and pure water before I was taken to the U.K,“ she said.
She is currently on a radio tour for the promotion of her new song, “Makwɛ,” which was released on 5th August, 2022.
