An old student of the University of Ghana, Richard Nyame, has emerged the overall best graduating candidate at the 39th Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) Graduation Ceremony.
Richard was also honoured as the Best in Advanced Taxation as well as Best First Attempt candidate of the level 3 CA professional examination.
Before joining the institute, Richard graduated with First Class Honours in Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon.
He currently works with First Atlantic Bank Limited as a Credit Portfolio Officer.
Richard is a Trade Finance, Taxation, Financial Management and Risk Management enthusiast.
In an interview with Joy Business, Richard said he aspires to continually contribute to the growth and transformation of his organisation by exuding the highest level of professionalism, while abiding by the guiding principles and tenets of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana.
On ethical practices within the accounting profession, Richard Nyame said sanctions against professionals engaged in unethical accounting practices should go beyond just withdrawal of licenses to imprisonment.
“If prosecution can follow, it should be done and that will go a long way to deter a lot of people”, He said.
Richard added, “If you withdraw my license, I can still find other ways to do what I have to do but once you’re prosecuted, you are behind bars and you don’t even have that freedom to operate.”

Meanwhile his twin brother, Richmond Nyame was also recognized as Best Level 2 candidate in Public Sector Accounting and Finance.
He also graduated from the University of Ghana with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences.

Richmond Nyame is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and is currently an Accountant with K-Archy and Company, a firm of Legal and Management Consultants.

Other award winners
For the level 3 CA professional exam, aside Richard Nyame, who emerged Overall Best Candidate, Diana Fosuaa was acknowledged Best Female Candidate.
Tracey De-Souza topped in Strategic Case Study, whiles Mubarik Yahaya was the best in Advance Audit and Assurance. Also, Wilson Komla Brew was first in Corporate Reporting.
Level 2
Emmanuel K. Agbevivi was recognised as Overall Best Candidate with no lady emerging Overall Best Female Candidate.

William Okoe was best in Business Management and Information System as well as the Overall Best Candidate for this level, while Juliana Mensah was recognised Overall Best Female Candidate.

Agyin N. K. Nyarko - Introduction to Management Accounting
Graduation Ceremony
The ceremony was the second for 2022, and 179 qualified accountants were issues certificates. In all, 487 new members joined the institute, having satisfied specific qualification criteria including 4 ATSWA graduands and 33 Post-Chartered Diploma graduates.
