The 2007 year group of Prempeh College has handed over a refurbished math and science laboratory to prepare students for the National Science and Math Quiz Championship.
The refurbished laboratory also doubles as a study studio, with computers and other tools which is expected to aid the grooming of NSMQ contestants.
The project, which is geared towards equipping the reigning NSMQ champions to retain the trophy, is one of many projects being undertaken by past student groups of the College.

Speaking at the event to hand over of the project to the school, the headmaster of the College, Aaron Atua Gyau expressed excitement and said the project will boost the morale of students and further improve the College’s chances in the ongoing competition.
“The ambiance will boost the morale of the students and further improve the chances of the school. This is a huge booster, and the entire College is thankful for this gesture.”

On the issue of security, Mr. Gyau revealed the alarming rate of crimes happening in the school. This he suspects is caused by miscreants who are able to gain access into the school by scaling the wall and causing damage to property.
He further called on relevant security enforcement agencies to beef up patrols and pleaded with old students to support with the installation of Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) to monitor the situation.
Addressing the students on the importance of the lab, Otumfour’s Agyapahene, Oheneba Owusu Afriyie, IV urged students of the College to take advantage of the technology and tools available to build the requisite skills which will be beneficial to them in future.

“The sky is your limit, make the best use of every opportunity available to you, develop your skills and conquer the world,” he said.
Prempeh College won the 2021 NSMQ finale by triumphing Presby Boys’ Senior High School and Keta Senior High School. The school has won the covetous trophy five times and hopes to win again this year.
