Brighter Smiles Foundation, the charity wing of electronics dealership The Gadget Master, has presented some sanitary and household consumables to the Akropong School for the Blind in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The items included boxes of sanitary pads, packs of bottled water, soft drinks, and packs of tissue papers and bags of washing powder.
According to the electronics company, the gesture was a corporate social responsibility action to extend a helping hand to persons with special needs; especially young girls who are in need of sanitary pads.
Marketing Manager of The Gadget Master, Ms. Jacqueline Damoah, told journalists that the donation was in response to an earlier appeal made by the school to the general public to help address some pressing needs of the school, including the lack of sanitary pads for girls.
“As a brand, we are focused on spreading love and putting smiles on the faces of our clients, partners and the community in which we operate. Through our Brighter Smile Foundation, we are reaching out to these children with special needs,” she noted.
Mr. Joseph Somu, a teacher who received the items on behalf of the school, commended The Gadget Master and Brighter Smile Foundation for the kind gesture.
He stated that is a timely support that will go a long way to improve sanitation and hygiene in the school.
He assured them that the items would be put to maximum use for the benefit of the students and called on other cooperate bodies, civil society organisations and benevolent individuals to support them.
