Residents of Nsuta-Atonsu in the Sekyere central district of the Ashanti Region have staged a demonstration to protest against the invasion of Fulani herdsmen.
The residents who are mostly farmers decried the destruction of several acres of farmlands by the headmen activities.
The convener, Kwaku Asare, who briefed the media after a protest on the principal streets of the town claims there are over one thousand cattle grazing in Nsuta-Atonsu.
According to him, the animals are destroying food crops as well as competing with residents for drinking water.
“The last time, when the chief asked those who owe cattle, only two people in the community claimed to be cattle owners. But there are over 1000 cattle in Atonsu. The cattle are destroying our water bodies and our crops, too,” he said.
Mr. Asare said the herdsmen set fire into their cocoa farms in the process.

He raised concerns about the encroachment of their lands by individuals claiming to be custodians of the land.
He therefore called on a Member of Parliament in the area and Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II to intervene.
