The leadership of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) Staff Union has pledged to deliver on GRIDCo’s mandate of providing non-discriminatory transmission services to Ghana’s power market.
GRIDCo Staff gave this assurance when they joined thousands of Ghanaian workers at this year’s May Day Parade at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
In his brief remarks, the Chairman of GRIDCo’s Senior Staff Association, Wisdom Kojo Adenyo said; “The main aim of GRIDCo is to be a strong backbone to Ghana’s power delivery and workers are committed to it.”

The Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress [TUC], Dr. Yaw Baah on behalf of Organised Labour appealed to government to alleviate the plight of workers by suspending all taxes and levies on LPG products.
Dr Baah explained, “This will bring down prices of fuel products and ease the burden on Ghanaians since the 15 pesewas reduction offered by government is not enough.”
Thousands of Ghana’s Power sector workers who represented their various entities joined the celebrations clad in branded shirts.

Addressing the parade, President Akufo-Addo who was the guest of honour, said government’s commitment to energy reforms has been targeted at restoring macroeconomic stability, ensuring debt sustainability, and addressing long-term structural challenges.
This he believes, will pave the way for sustainable growth and development.
He expressed government’s commitment to uninterrupted power supply for economic growth despite existing challenges.

He said “In spite of the damaging effect of the crisis, we have managed to protect lives, livelihoods and jobs, and kept the lights on”.
