Rapper Amerado has said that winning the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Best Rap Performance has put some pressure on him.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he stated that he is now filled with thoughts on how to maintain the momentum that would ensure he remains consistent in the industry.
He told the host Doreen Avio, that the attention gained during his lyrical battles with his colleague Lyrical Joe contributed to his win, adding “there are people hoping that I could repeat what I did.”
Amerado said “I am in school but I am trying my best” adding among other things he wonders “how do I maintain this post, how do I stay relevant and consistent?”
Amerado said that he hoped to make music that would not only make him some money but also impact lives.
“I believe that in 20 years time, I should have something to show for it…that is the dream,” the rapper said.
Amerado won the 2023 VFMA Best Rap Performance award at the ceremony held in May with his work ‘Obia Boa’.
He beat Medikal, Strongman, Lyrical Joe and Teephlow to win the coveted award.
Amerado said on Daybreak Hitz that because he had lost the category after being nominated in previous years, he was not too hopeful he would win the award.
“I have always wanted this plaque, so with this win I felt like I was dreaming. I said thank you God, finally, third time lucky. My mum called me right away when I won,” he added.
