Leading indigenous bank, CalBank, continues to demonstrate its resolve in protecting the lives and assets of staff and customers through its regular fire simulation exercises.
The fire simulation drill which was conducted at the Derby Avenue Branch, one of the branches situated in the heart of Accra’s Central Business District is the second of the year, following a successful drill conducted at the head office in March 2023.
The move which is to ensure a business continuity and safety practices at the workplace was held in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Ambulance Service.
Speaking to Joy Business after the exercise, Head of Risk Management of CalBank, Saddick Arthur explained that the bank will continue to put in measures to ensure the maximum protection of customers’ interests.
“The essence of this exercise is to protect lives and property. Our customers are our key stakeholders and we want to ensure that in such an unlikely situation, all our customers are safe and their investments are also safe“.
The Branch Manager of the Derby Avenue Branch, Alberta Taylor said the drill was essential considering the fact that the bank is located in the central business district of Accra.
“Using this branch is good because of the busy nature of this location, the bank finds itself. With this our customers around know that their deposits are safe”.
On the need to educate the public on fire precautions, the Security Coordinator of CalBank, Thomas Nketiah urged the public to acquaint themselves with the fire safety drills and tools.
After successful fire drills in branches across the country, CalBank will continue to conduct two more random fire simulation exercises before the year ends, to ensure the bank’s readiness to protect staff, customers as well their assets.
