The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region, Francis Asenso-Boakye says Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the best candidate to help the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) retain power in the 2024 polls.
Mr Asenso-Boakye said even though the other candidates are also qualified to lead the party, the current tide favours Dr Bawumia.
According to him, for the party to achieve its quest of “breaking the 8”, it requires an extraordinary candidate who will be accepted by majority of Ghanaians.

This extraordinary candidate, the Minister for Works and Housing insists, is the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Breaking the 8 requires an extraordinary candidate. I can confidently declare that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the extraordinary man the NPP needs to break the 8. He will deliver,” Mr Asenso-Boakye made these comments on Sunday, July 16, when the Vice President visited his constituency to campaign.

The party will elect its flagbearer for the 2024 elections on November 4.
So far, all 10 flagbearer hopefuls have been cleared to contest in the upcoming elections.
The party disclosed this in a press release issued on Wednesday, July 12.
According to the press statement, the Prof Mike Oquaye Vetting Committee approved all 10 candidates after vetting them individually.
The General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong said the Committee made this known in their report pursuant to Article 10(3) of the NPP constitution.
