An autoclave is a critical and essential device in every hospital. On the industrial level, autoclaves are primarily used to sterilise disposable and infectious waste before they're either disposed or recycled.
In the majority of hospitals, steam sterilisation serves as the standard for hospital equipment sterilisation and decontamination.
This machine has been donated to the Princess Marie Louise Hospital by the Provincial Grande Lodge.
Deputy Provincial Grandmaster, Nii Carl Coleman said it was part of the mandate of Freemasons to give back to society.
“As part of the tenets of the Freemason, we are to give back to society and do charity work. So, we contacted them for their list of needs and decided to give them the most needed item,” he said.
Hospital administrator at Princess Marie Louise, Juanita Dapelma said the machine which is quite rare in their facility will be of great benefit.
“One of our autoclave machines broke down and there was so much pressure on the main one, so this new autoclave will be of great help,” she noted.
