Old students of the Okomfo Anokye Senior High School in the Ashanti region have made a cash donation to support the school’s 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz team.
The gesture is to support the team in preparation for the forthcoming national competition later this year.
The school qualified for the national stage of the quiz for the first time during the Ashanti Regional qualifiers.
In a contest described as an Asante derby, the school beat stiff competition from Asanteman SHS, Asare Bediako SHS and Juaben SHS.
The alumni, led by its second Vice President, Yaw Osei Harrison, together with some senior members of the group, presented a cheque of 40,000 cedis to support the activities of the quiz team.
The donation would also augment the teaching and learning of science and its related subjects in the school.
The presentation was welcomed by the Assistant headmaster in-charge of Academics on behalf of the school’s management.
He expressed the school’s gratitude to the delegation and also highlighted some challenges confronting the school to the group.
This gesture by the Old Student Association is a call on other alumni to contribute their quota for the school’s development ahead of its 60th anniversary.
