An independent presidential candidate Dr Sam Ankrah has called on Ghanaians to vote out the leading parties New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, he said that despite being in power in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, the two parties have failed to properly govern the country and left behind dire economic challenges.
“We've had enough of this Fourth Republic NDC and NPP. Our people are hungry. A lot of Ghanaians I talk to don't have work to do. If you go on the streets, people are paying so much taxes. Businesses are folding on a daily basis,” he said.
“Basically there's a serious economic challenge in the system and I believe that this status is low. This cannot continue. We can't have a new colonial system where certain people go into power to enrich themselves and their immediate families at the expense of all,” Dr Ankrah added.
The presidential candidate stated that his goal is to bring Ghanaians a “second independence” with a proper government that works in the favour of all Ghanaians.
Dr Ankrah stated that many successful states today were all once poor but have been elevated through good leadership and policies.
“Similarly, if Ghana, if we feel the current status quo has failed us and we have to look for options, we have to break the system and rebuild again by having the right structures that do not just favour a section of people but everybody else, then we are heading towards the right direction,” he added.
Dr Ankrah further offered to sacrifice himself to fight for the underprivileged in society.

Describing himself as the “Messiah”, he pledged to lead the charge in addressing the long-standing issues of deprivation and inequality that have plagued the country for decades.
He believed that the time has come for a generation to sacrifice their comfort for the greater good of the nation and posterity.
