The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu has criticised the governance of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the NPP has not lived up to expectations and failed to fulfil their promises.
Speaking to JoyNews on Thursday, August 31, Mr Toobu said “History has shown that he [President Akufo-Addo] is going to go down as the worst president in our entire history from 1957 to date and he knows that.”
His remarks followed a statement by a flagbearer aspirant of the NPP, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen who during his campaign tour pledged to build upon the achievements of President Akufo-Addo's administration.
But the Wa West Constituency MP clarified that the president's administration legacy has been one of disappointment.
Mr Toobu questioned the former Trade and Industry Minister's intention to construct the nation's future based on the current administration's track record, deeming it as a total failure.
“There is no structure for you to build a super structure on. What President Akufo-Addo is leaving for this country is disappointment, disgrace, embarrassment, and the worst of all.
“And you want to come and build a super structure on such a failed foundation, where do you want to go,” he wondered.
Mr Toobu further stated that the former Trade and Industry Minister was part of the economic management team but could not provide any solution to revive the economy.
“He was part of the solid team, the team that messed us up. ….I think his vision is what actually gave him out, he said he wants to build a huge super structure on the successes of the Akufo-Addo administration and that is a failure.”
