Homowo is still in the air and the Association of Ghana Music Legends (ASSOGHAM L) will hold a concert on Thursday, September 7 at Authority, near the Nungua Senior High School in Accra, in commemoration of that cherished traditional festival of the Ga people.
Tagged the Ga-Dangme Homowo Musical Explosion, performers lined up for the show include Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Amandzeba, Naa Amanua, Lady Talata, KK Kabobo, Sammy Superstar, Adotey Tetor and Pozo Hayes. All the acts will be backed by the ASSOGHAM Band.
ASSOGHAM L is a welfare and advocacy organisation that embraces Ghanaian musicians spread across the world. It came about when drummer, Cici Frank, died in mid-December 2019 and some of his colleague musicians, in Ghana and abroad, came together to raise funds to support his family for the funeral in mid-January 2020.

An idea cropped up that the WhatsApp platform created for Cici’s funeral could be turned into a welfare collective for members. After some brainstorming, it was agreed that an association governed by a Constitution and other appropriate guidelines could be formed.
ASSOGHAM L aims at fostering close ties between Ghanaian live band musicians active from the 1960s till now. Apart from seeking members’ welfare in a variety of ways, it also advocates for policies in the interest of the general Ghanaian public.
Members are in places such as Australia, Canada, United States, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Cote d’Ivoire and, of course, Ghana.
ASSOGHAM sources have indicated that the Nungua concert would be the take-off point for similar bashes in other regions of Ghana during major traditional festivals. The association also intends to bring down non-Ghanaian bands for some of its programmes and get Ghanaian bands too to play abroad in exchange.
The Nungua Traditional Council, Kpoo Keke Beverage and Chop n Chill Restaurant & Lounge at Kasoa are sponsors of the ASSOGHAM L Homowo concert which starts at 6.00pm.
