American rapper, Ice Spice took home this year’s MTV Video Music Awards for Best New Artist and it got her emotional.
The 'Munch' artiste began to tear up while giving her acceptance speech on Tuesday night.
While the crowd cheered on for her, she said, “Y’all! Thank you so much. Thank you, MTV, oh my God! This is so cool,” after regaining her composure.

Ice Spice added, “I want to thank my manager James. I want to thank my producer Riot, for making the best music with me. Shout out to all the other nominees in this category. I want to thank my label 10K and Capitol for always supporting me. And of course God. Without God, none of this would be possible."

Finishing off her speech in style, she paid tribute to her hometown as well: “Shout out the Bronx! Period!”
The Moonperson trophy was presented to Ice Spice by last year's winner for the same category, American singer/ actress, Dove Cameron.
The Best New Artist category was a fan-voted award. Other nominees for the category were: GloRilla, Kaliii, Peso Pluma, PinkPantheress, and Reneé Rapp.
Ice Spice was nominated for two categories: Push Performance of the Year, and Best New Artist. She won the latter during the 2023 MTV VMA, which took place at New Jersey’s Prudential Center, Tuesday, September 12.
