Commuters plying the Sawla-Bole highway in the Savannah Region have been advised to stay away from the route as the Doli portion of the road has been washed away by flood waters from the Doli Dam.
This has impeded traffic flow on the stretch rendering affected communities isolated from the rest of the region.
Meanwhile, police sources in Sawla say no human casualty has been recorded.

Local sources at Doli, however, have blamed the non-desilting of the Doli dam as the cause.
They claim the dam was abandoned for several years after it was first desilted in the nineties leading to its overflow.
"We don't need any local authority here to preach to us about this road and all that because we told them so about the Dam. We started telling them years ago that the mud in the dam was becoming too much and needed to be removed but they didn't mind us and now, here we are", a source said.

Myjoyoline checked in Doli and confirmed that after it was desilted in the nineties, there has not been any work on it again forcing an overflow of the banks.
Apart from the concrete bridge that is still hanging, every part of the road around the dam, has been washed away.

The Doli Dam which flows directly through the bridge and connects with the Black Volta basin, was constructed in the early 1970s to enhance irrigation farming and pasturing of livestock.
The Savannah Regional Security Council (SREGSEC) led by the Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, is scheduled to visit the scene of the disaster tomorrow, Monday, Sept.18th, 2023
