The Indonesian Consulate in Ghana has expressed its commitment to supporting efforts to help restore the lives of victims of the flooding incidents caused by the spillage of the Akosombo Hydroelectric Dam.
It has promised to work with government institutions, local organisations, and other relevant bodies towards achieving this objective to bring relief to the victims.
The Consular Paskal Rois made this known when he presented some items to flood victims in Mepe in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
“But our support doesn't end with this donation. We are committed to working with local organisations, authorities, and communities to provide ongoing assistance, rebuilding, and rehabilitation” he said.
Mr Rois said the donation and efforts to rebuild the devastated communities signify a symbol of the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
He expressed deep condolences for the loss suffered by the affected communities and urged stakeholders to collaborate towards restoring the livelihoods of the victims.
“Together, we will help the people of Mepe and other affected areas regain their strength and rebuild their lives”, he said.
The items presented with support from Rois Travels included cartoons of detergents, brand-new clothes and blankets, oil, and rice among others to the victims.
The North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakua expressed his gratitude and emphasised the significance of the international community’s support during these challenging times.
"The people of Mepe are truly grateful for this generous gesture from the Indonesian Consulate. It reinforces the spirit of global togetherness in times of need," said Mr. Ablakwa.
Mr. Paskal Rois was accompanied by his wife, Gifty Esta Rois, and an Indonesian Rev. Sister Sri Supadmi who has been living and working in Ghana for the past 34 years.
