Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies managed a fourth-place finish at the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League following their defeat to ASFAR Club on Saturday night.
The two teams faced each other for the second time in the competition for the bronze medal but it was the Moroccans who avenged their group stage defeat to finish third.
Ghanaian forward Maafia Nyame opened the scoring for ASFAR Club in the first half before Chebbak doubled the lead deep into injury time of the first half.
The Moroccans claimed a 2-0 advantage into the break and held on after return from recess to clinch the bronze medal despite late attacking incursions from Nana Joe Adarkwa’s side.
The result on Saturday saw the Techiman-based side finish fourth in their maiden appearance in the competition while ASFAR claimed the third position.
Despite missing out on a medal, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will take home $200,000 as prize money for finishing as one of two semifinalists.
