Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Executive Secretary of President Akufo-Addo, has strongly refuted claims that he is involved in negotiations over the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) - Torentco deal.
He categorically denied allegations that Torentco is his "baby" and that he is working to hand over TOR to another company without due process.
These claims, which surfaced in recent news reports, accused Bediatuo Asante of engaging in prolonged negotiations related to the TOR state facility.
In response, Nana Bediatuo Asante's legal representatives issued a rejoinder on November 28, vehemently rejecting the allegations.
“Our client does not have any dealings with the subject matter referred to supra, and the same cannot be said to be the baby of our client. Moreover, our client has not haggled with anyone for the said TOR Facility.”
The lawyers, Marfo & Associates, upon instruction by Bediatuo Asante, notified the Managing Editor of The Herald newspaper to verify claims against their client ahead of publishing same.
“We are instructed to notify you to stop the deliberate orchestration of false publication about our client and to take steps to verify any information prior to publication in accordance with the ethics of the journalism profession and the standards of the Ghana Journalists Association.”
