JoyNews’ Seth Kwame Boateng has been awarded the George Ayittey Memorial (GAM) Award for Excellence in Media and Journalism.
The ceremony which was held on November 25, at the Airport View Hotel was organised by the Africa Centre for Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment in partnership with IMANI Africa, and funded by ATLAS Network.
Seth Kwame Boateng, according to the organisers, was awarded based on nomination by the public and a detailed assessment of his output and its impact in the media space and the general ecosystem.

“Seth’s unwavering commitment to investigative and human-rights journalism has made a profound impact on society, exposing critical issues and advocating for marginalised communities.
“His award-winning documentaries such as ‘Left to Rot’ and Locked and Forgotten, have uncovered abuses in Ghana’s prisons leading to significant reforms.
“Seth’s work embodies the principles of journalistic integrity, courage and a deep sense of social responsibility.
"He is a true champion of the fourth estate using his powerful voice to hold people accountable and inspire positive change,” the organisers stated.

The GAM Awards is an initiative geared at supporting, encouraging and celebrating individuals who through their works have exemplified the character and commitment to dissembling tyranny as espoused and practiced by Africa’s foremost free-market campaigner, George Ayittey.
George B. N. Ayittey was a Ghanaian economist, author, and activist who passed away in 2022.
He was known for advocating classical liberalism, free markets, democracy, and human rights in Africa.
He was also a vocal critic of corruption, dictatorship, and foreign aid in the continent.
