A crew of six firemen from the Konongo Odumasi Fire Station in the Ashanti region narrowly escaped a mob attack on their way to respond to an emergency.
According to the report, this is the second time they were nearly attacked for responding late to a fire outbreak emergency within the area.
Speaking to Joy News, the crew leader, LF Adom Stephen said they were returning from an emergency, when they had a call that there was another emergency.
He narrated that upon reaching the scene, the angry mob started screaming at them.
“We were returning from an emergency at Breku on the Nkawkaw-Accra road around 9:00 pm when a call came for us to attend another emergency. They thought our lateness is deliberate,“he said
He added that, this is the second time this mob attack has happened, and he believes if nothing is done, something worse might happen the next time.
“The first attack happened in Odumasi and the next one also in Konongo, our authorities should help us arrest some of these people to serve as a deterrent to others, how can you be attacking officers"he quizzed.
The Konongo Odumasi Fire Station located at Asante Akyem Central serves four (4) other nearby districts in the Ashanti region.
