High-flying Ghanaian music collective, SuperJazzClub, after a spectacular 2023 that was characterised by rave reviews for their music, performances and a European tour, have dropped their first single of 2024 titled ‘OFF’.
This release marks the beginning of a new era for the group with their fans anticipating groundbreaking exploits in the coming months and the collective striking a distribution deal with indie label services and distro company, Human Re-Sources, home to Bristish-Ghanaian artiste, RAYE, who recently won six awards at the 2024 Brits Awards in the UK.
The infectious song, ‘OFF’ is produced by two of the collective’s members, Øbed and Ansah Live, with additional production from DUKE.
Another display of masterful sonic creation, the single is symbolic of the collective’s unique sound identity which has been in the works over the five years of their existence.
Highlighting a story of love turned sour from the start of the song after an opening a cappella chant, Seyyoh, the group’s only female member, warms the song as an intimate R&B number with her delectable vocals before the group joins in with a lovely chorus.
With remarkable creative input and coherent precision, the track transforms into an unexpected percussive banger with a repeated catchy and groovy bass.
The collective’s Tano Jackson then joins in with his trademark conversational rap flow to continue the story with lyrics that delight in the possibilities of exploring a still-lingering chemistry of a relationship that sadly seems already over.

The song defies a specific genre categorisation as what has now become known as SuperJazzClub’s works.
The song swings between juxtaposing genres, tempos and moods resulting in a track that is informed by 90s R&B, Hip-Hop, and UKG. It is further woven with jazz-inspired piano embellishment and rhythmic drums and percussion patterns that are subtly Ghanaian and at home with contemporary Afrobeats.
Commenting on the track’s storyline, SuperJazzClub said, “The song is about two ex-partners who ran into each other again.
"One party is trying to make the other entertain the idea of them getting back together but probably just for one night. The idea for this track came about after returning home from our European tour last year.
"Without even listening to the song, the title gives the mood of the song away. This was a very conscious decision to get the listener to go bananas when the beat dropped. It’s perfect for the clubs but also for hanging with friends in the living room,”
Also, speaking on what ‘OFF’ means to the group at this set time in their journey, SuperJazzClub said, “OFF’ is almost an audio recap of all we have learnt and experienced sonically since our last EP in 2020.
"It's the best description of where SuperJazzClub is at the moment; a collective of creatives patchworking various influences together to create something cohesive and compelling.”
Last year, SuperJazzClub made considerable strides as an in-demand live act playing several headline shows and festival dates across Europe.
These included The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, Brussels’ CORE Festival, Angoulême’s Musique Métisses, Paris’ We Love Green Festival and a sold-out headline show at London’s Paper Dress Vintage.
They also took part in Soho House’s ‘Soho Rising’ international concert series performing at their residences in London, Brighton, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam.
SuperJazzClub closed 2023 with a spotlight feature in The Independent’s weekly newsletter and an enviable spot in Dazed 100 - the UK media brand’s definitive list of the next generation of creatives around the world driving youth culture forward.
This coming May, on the 26th, the collective will be playing London’s Cross The Tracks festival in Brixton.
