Ghana will participate in the final Olympic Qualifier in Bangkok, Thailand, JoySports can confirm.
This follows an approval by the Sports Ministry for the tournament scheduled for May 22 to June 2, 2024.
United States-based Dr. Ornella Sathoud, a middle-weight boxer, will join six yet-to-be-selected members of the Black Bombers team for next month’s tournament.
Ghana is still waiting for its first boxing slot for the Paris Olympic Games after failing to secure qualification despite participating in two previous qualifiers.
Twelve boxers failed to secure any at the qualifying tournament in Senegal last year.
In March, seven Ghanaian boxers competed for 49 available slots in the first of Olympic Qualifier of the year.
The Black Bombers team of Samuel Takyi (light welterweight), Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey (flyweight division), Alfred Kotei (light-middleweight), Jonathan Tetteh (light heavyweight) and Leicester-born Mark Kojovi Ahondao (heavyweight), all failed to secure spots.
Black Hitters pair, Janet Ackah and Warrant Officer Anatu Mohammed, also failed to qualify.
