The Tema Metropolitan Security Council (MESEC), has acknowledged with concern the incident involving the Ghana Navy and celebrants of the Tema Kpelejoo Festival.
The incident, which occurred on the evening of Friday, April 12, led to the death of two persons, with others sustaining injuries.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of MESEC, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, on Tuesday, April 16, he said MESEC will visit and commiserate with the bereaved families at Tema Manhean.
The statement added that MESEC will engage the youth of the town, the Tema Traditional Council and the Ghana Navy to make an earnest appeal for peace to prevail while investigations are ongoing, for justice to be served.

“MESEC will implement security measures to prevent a repeat of the incident, protect the good people of Tema, and secure key installations of the Ghana Navy.”
The statement indicated that MESEC will refer the matter to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for further investigations to ensure a high degree of neutrality and confidentiality.
“MESEC shall be committed to assisting and cooperating with REGSEC in its investigations to arrive at appropriate recommendations and conclusions.”
Additionally, MESEC appealed to the people of Tema Metropolis, especially Tema Manhean to remain calm and peaceful while the case is being investigated.
"We want to assure everyone that the findings and recommendations from the investigations would be adhered to strictly without fear or favour."
The youth of Tema Manhean reportedly clashed with some personnel of the Ghana Navy in the area, leading to the death of two young people alleged to have died from gunshots fired by the naval officers.
