Dynamic Works Foundation, backed by KGL Foundation, has kick-started the Adolescent Girls Empowerment endeavour in the Nkwata South Municipality. This initiative aims to uplift young girls in education, health, and self-assurance, addressing pervasive challenges in the region.
Tackling education hurdles
Shocking statistics reveal 322,121 pregnancies among young girls from 2021 to 2023, with the Ghana Health Service reporting 555,575 cases of adolescent pregnancies between 2016 and 2020.
In 2023 alone, 10.6% of teenage girls, including those in basic schools, got pregnant in Ghana.

Gloria Cann, Executive Director of Dynamic Works Foundation, underscores the dire need to provide vulnerable adolescent girls with quality education, crucial for personal and national progress.
The project prioritises sex education and preventive measures to combat early pregnancies and sexual activity.
Mission in Motion
The target is to educate 2,350 basic girls and boys on teenage pregnancy causes and prevention, establish 21 school-based "Dynamic Groups" to address related issues dramatically, monitor absenteeism in 25 beneficiary schools, aiming to reintegrate at least 5 girls affected by recent closures due to communal conflicts.

Wide-reaching Impact
Approximately, 2,350 basic school pupils aged 10-15, along with educators, local government officials, traditional leaders, and persons with disabilities, are set to benefit from enhanced awareness and participation in the project's activities.

Richard Apau, the School Improvement Support Officer, welcomed the initiative, noting that financial constraints leading to teenage pregnancies cause a 15% annual dropout rate among adolescents in Nkwanta South Municipality, particularly affecting girls.
