Students at Galinkpegu Primary School in the Tolon District of the Northern Region have received educational materials to support reading and learning, thanks to Hereafter Ghana's 'Seat for Success' project and funding from the Kitchen Table Charities Trust (KTCT).

“It is about empowering our children to dream bigger, reach higher, and achieve their fullest potential. These dual desks will not just provide a comfortable place to sit and learn; they will serve as the foundation upon which dreams are built,” Chief Executive Officer of Hereafter Ghana, Alimatu Sadia Nuhu.

The donation includes 100 dual desks to facilitate comfortable learning, 50 school uniforms and 50 pairs of footwear to promote a sense of dignity and belonging, over 1,300 exercise books and 120 textbooks to support academic growth, and essential stationery items like pens, pencils, color pencils, and erasers. Sporting tools like football was included to encourage physical activity and teamwork.

According to Alimatu, the books will offer more than just words and numbers; they will impart valuable knowledge and wisdom that will mold the leaders of the future. She emphasizes that education is not only a basic human right, but also a powerful tool that unlocks doors to new opportunities and empowers individuals to reach their full potential.

Alimatu laments that many children are denied this fundamental right due to various challenges, but she reaffirms their commitment to transforming the lives of children in the Galinkpegu community - ensuring that every child has access to quality education, paving the way for a brighter future and a more equitable world.

“This donation is not merely about material possessions; it is about investing in the future of our community,” Alimatu said.

Alimatu inspires the students to have lofty aspirations, put in diligent effort, and recognize the immense potential of education to revolutionize their future. She emphasized that education can be a powerful catalyst for transformation, empowering them to achieve their goals and create a brighter tomorrow.

“Each one of you has the potential to achieve greatness, and we believe in you wholeheartedly,” she said.

She urges the school management to take good care of the donated materials and ensure they are utilized effectively, so that they continue to benefit the school and its students in the long run.

The Tolon District Director of Education, Alhaji Alhassan Sumani, expresses gratitude to Hereafter Ghana for their generous donation, noting that it came at a crucial time. He highlights that the support extended beyond just providing physical resources, as it also inspired and motivated the students, fostering a sense of hope and confidence that will propel them to strive for greater achievements.

According to him, the Tolon district is facing a severe shortage of furniture, with a deficit of 7,120 units as of last week, resulting in over 14,240 students lacking seating arrangements out of a total student population of 34,698.

“It is worth mentioning that, the district has a furniture deficit of 7120 as at last week.  This means that over 14,240 learners have no seating places out of a total student population of 34, 698,” he said

He appeals to the school management to invest their time and effort in mentoring and guiding the students, as they hold the key to the future progress and advancement of the community and the country.

The head teacher of Galinkpegu Primary School, Dawuda Ibrahim, was thrilled to receive the donated items, acknowledging that they will have a profound impact on the students and significantly improve the teaching and learning experience in the school.
