The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it is working to improve and maintain a robust power distribution network in order to mitigate the impact of severe weather conditions on its operations.
According to the ECG, "transient tripping" or temporary interruptions on feeders are often automatically restored as soon as the weather conditions improve.
In a press release dated May 31, the ECG explained that permanent faults on its feeders may require manual intervention by its engineers, leading sometimes to a potentially longer restoration time.
“The outages that are caused by transient tripping (temporary interruptions) on our feeders are remotely restored soon after the rainstorm. However, permanent faults on our feeders will have to be rectified and may take a while to be restored by our engineers," a piece of the press statement said.
It further noted that, "individuals, localised outages, and incidents of fallen or sagging conductors within customers’ vicinities should be reported to the ECG Call Centre on 030-2611611, the nearest ECG office, or reach us on our social media handles via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for prompt intervention.”
ECG cautioned all to be careful during these rainy days and not go near sagging or fallen electrical conductors since they are fatal.
