Residents of Noka, a small community near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, have expressed gratitude to Eunice Asiedua Agyepong, winner of the second edition of the JoyNews Impact Makers Awards, for leading initiatives to establish their first basic school.
Eunice Asiedua Agyepong, who received the award at the weekend, says she has begun receiving calls from NGOs and philanthropists eager to assist the Noka community in varied ways.
Originally assigned to teach in the community that had no school, Eunice chose to work with local authorities to initiate the community's inaugural basic school instead of seeking a change in her posting.
Speaking to JoyNews, Eunice Asiedua Agyepong said, "It is awesome. I feel excited after the award and coming back to work, the teaching and learning materials. I say, JoyNews, I am so grateful. I thank you so much. I have been receiving calls from all over the country. I say thank you to the Multimedia Group. I say thank you so much to NGOs, philanthropists, and even individuals who want to support me, and I am still counting.”
A resident living near the Noka basic school commended Eunice for her diligent daily efforts in educating the children, noting that her efforts have significantly reduced the risks faced by school children in the community.
"It has helped reduce the danger of our children crossing the highway to go to school. This school has saved many lives.”
