Chaos erupted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Prempeh II Library when a fire broke out on the third floor due to an electrical socket malfunction.
Firefighters swiftly extinguished the flames, and everyone was safely evacuated from the library.
Calm has since been restored, and students have returned to their studies in preparation for the end of second-semester examinations, which begin tomorrow.
The KNUST SRC President-Elect, Master Kane Nana Francis, addressed the students, emphasizing safety measures to be taken during a fire outbreak and advising against overloading electrical sockets.
He also urged students to remain calm and avoid panic in such situations.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this incident.
This fire incident follows just 10 days after a blaze affected a three-story accommodation facility known as “Father Hostel” at KNUST.
That fire reduced at least nine rooms to rubble, impacting 22 students and three teaching assistants.
The outgoing Yvonne-Nkay-led SRC administration provided relief items and temporary accommodation for the affected victims.
