The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has assured Ghanaians of his government readiness to be subjected to public scrutiny.
According to him, public office holders are called to serve the nation, so they must be prepared to answer questions when necessary.
As such, he said should any public office holder abuse office, they should be prepared to be held accountable.
“If people what to come into government and make money then we can help you, go into the private centre, we will help you set up a cassava processing plant go and process cassava employ young people , don’t and come and take public office.
“Once you take public office you must be preapared to be held to account,” he said.
He made these comments during his town hall meeting on August 12.
Mr Mahama acknowledged that it is difficult to prosecute his own Members of Parliament (MPs) or government officials, but he stated that starting with his own government, would ensure accountability and completely eradicate corruption from the society .
