A violent clash between youth from Wenchi Zongo and Nkonsia in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region has resulted in the death of one person and the destruction of five motorbikes.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 18, has left the community in shock and mourning.
According to reports from the Wenchi Methodist Hospital’s Emergency and Accident Unit, three victims were brought to the facility around 5:30 AM.
Unfortunately, one of the victims, 21-year-old Alhassan Mohammed, succumbed to his injuries.
Another victim was treated and discharged, while 22-year-old Ayuuba Adamu remains hospitalized and is currently responding to treatment.
One of the victims, Ayuuba Adamu recounted to Adom News how he and his friends were attacked at a jam at Nkonsia.
A suspect reportedly attempted to snatch one of their phones, but he was overpowered, leading to the violence.
This confrontation resulted in the fatal stabbing of Alhassan Mohammed and injuries to another person who attempted to save him.
In the chaos that followed, the Nkonsia youth set fire to five motorbikes belonging to the suspects.
The case has since been reported to the Wenchi police, who are expected to carry out further investigations.
At the time of filing this report, the police had not yet commented on the incident.
