The Office of the Vice President has addressed recent news reports alleging unlawful entry and demolition of properties in the Cantonments and Labone areas.
In a press statement signed by the Vice President's spokesperson, Gideon Boako, on Friday, September 6, the office reacted to reports that the individuals responsible for these acts have allegedly claimed to be acting on behalf of the Vice President.
“We wish to place on record that the Vice President or his Office does not have any interest in any property in the Cantonments and Labone areas where such acts are alleged to have occurred,” part of the statement read.
The statement further clarified that no officer or agent has been authorised by the Vice President or his Office to engage in any activities involving lands or properties in these areas.
The Office of the Vice President called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare and the police hierarchy to work with the victims to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure legal action is taken.
“We are by this release, calling on the general public to treat as false, any information contrary to the position stated above,” the statement added.
