The University of Ghana has been selected as the official venue for the 4th edition of the Africa Basketball Festival, set to take place from October 24 to 27, 2024.
The festival will bring together basketball teams from ten countries, alongside 15 fashion brands, musicians, and notable figures for four days of sports, fashion, music, and cultural exchange.
The Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) has become a major platform for celebrating basketball culture in Africa, with this year's event promising a blend of exciting basketball matches, fashion shows, music performances, and talent showcases. The University of Ghana’s state-of-the-art sports facilities and longstanding support for sports development make it an ideal host for this high-profile event.
Dr Austin Luguterah, Director of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, expressed his enthusiasm about the university hosting the festival: "The University of Ghana is honoured to serve as the host for the 2024 Africa Basketball Festival. We are committed to promoting sports as a tool for youth engagement, sportsmanship, and unity across Africa. This event aligns with our vision to position the university as a leader in both academic and extracurricular excellence."
Ato Van Ess, President of the Ghana Basketball Association, emphasized the significance of the university’s involvement, stating: "The University of Ghana's excellent facilities and dedication to youth development make it the perfect venue for this year’s festival. This event represents basketball as a unifying force across Ghana and the continent."

The festival is expected to draw thousands of spectators and will offer opportunities for youth empowerment, talent discovery, and international collaborations in both sports and fashion.
