TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC has organised a significant beach clean-up and awareness campaign at Wiaboman Beach in the Greater Accra Region.
The initiative was part of the TotalEnergies Ghana Action! programme was held to celebrate World Cleanup Day, marking its first year as a UN-recognized International Day. The primary goal was to raise awareness about the importance of beach conservation, the dangers of plastic pollution, and its detrimental effects on marine life.
The event mobilised 100 employees from TotalEnergies Ghana and over 20 sanitation officers. Together, they cleaned a 737-meter stretch of beach, collecting an impressive 11 tonnes of waste.

This collective effort helped restore the shoreline and underscored the pressing issue of plastic waste and improper disposal, which continue to plague coastal environments.
In addition to the clean-up, 100 coconut seedlings were planted along the beach. This symbolic act reflected the company's commitment to long-term environmental restoration, promoting greenery, and providing natural shade. It also reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship within the Wiaboman community.

To support ongoing environmental efforts, TotalEnergies Ghana donated ten 240-liter waste bins to the community. These bins will promote proper waste management practices at the beach, helping to maintain the cleanliness achieved during the event and encouraging sustainable habits for the future.
This initiative highlights TotalEnergies Ghana's dedication to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and community engagement. By involving residents and employees, the project fostered a culture of environmental consciousness and active participation in beach conservation, which is expected to have a lasting impact on the community.
Through these collaborative efforts, TotalEnergies Ghana continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a sustainable environment and protecting marine ecosystems for future generations.
