The Tse Addo community in Accra came together last Saturday for the Safe Communities Outreach Event, emphasising safety, collaboration, and collective responsibility.

Themed “Keeping Communities Safe: Building a Safer and Better Community,” the event gathered local leaders, security officials, and residents to address security concerns and explore solutions.

Emmanuel Kwapong set the event in motion with an opening prayer, creating an atmosphere of unity.

Audrey Ocloo, Customer Service Officer at Response One, then welcomed attendees, stressing the importance of community engagement for building safer neighbourhoods.

“Safety is a shared responsibility,” she reminded participants.

Mr Kwapong took the stage again, outlining Tse Addo’s security challenges.

He stressed the need for community-driven solutions, saying, “Only through collaboration can we address these pressing issues.” His presentation paved the way for a broader discussion on improving security in the area.

Officer Cadet Solomon Ketu from the Ghana Police Service’s Community Policing Unit delivered one of the event’s key addresses, stressing the significance of a strong relationship between police and local communities.

“Trust and cooperation are essential for effective law enforcement,” he said, encouraging residents to work closely with law enforcement to ensure their safety.

Joshua Laryea, Sales Officer at Response One, highlighted the role of technology in home and business security.

He introduced participants to modern security systems designed to protect both personal and community spaces.

Rita Odoley Sowah, MP for La Dade Kotopon Constituency, and Hon. Nii Ashitey, representing the Municipal Chief Executive, called for collective action.

They reminded residents that building a safer community requires everyone’s participation.

“The security of Tse Addo is in our hands,” Mr Sowah stated.

ACP Mrs. Gifty A.K. Mawuenyega, Director of the Community Policing Unit, shed light on the growing role of community policing.

Her words sparked a lively discussion during the open forum, where participants exchanged ideas and raised concerns about local safety.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Helena Armah, the Assemblywoman for the area, who expressed her gratitude to all attendees.

She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the continued safety of Tse Addo.

The Safe Community Outreach was deemed a success, highlighting the critical role both authorities and the community play in creating a secure environment.

The event underscored that lasting peace and safety are achievable through collective effort.
