Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent presidential candidate, stormed the funeral of the late Akyempimhene of the Ashanti Kingdom. It was also Nana Kwame Bediako’s first time meeting the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II not long after he met with the Dormaahene and encouraged him to settle any disagreement with the Asantehene.

The Akyempimhene is a revered title bestowed upon a chief within the Ashanti Kingdom. This role, traditionally held by the son of an Ashanti king, involves overseeing the royal family and representing the king alongside sub-chiefs.
Nana Kwame Bediako, accompanied by his wife, Ruby Bediako, and members of The New Force movement, paid his final respects to the late chief during the ceremony.

As an indigene of Nsuta in the Ashanti Kingdom and someone who grew up in Kumasi, Nana Kwame Bediako expressed a deep connection to the late royal and the cultural heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom.
It would be recalled that Nana Kwame Bediako, on his 276 Constituency Tour appealed to the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, to make peace with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, saying the rift has been a source of concern for many, given the historical and cultural significance of these two traditional kingdoms in Ghana.

The rivalry, often marked by disputes over land rights and traditional authority, has seen heightened moments in recent years, threatening the harmony between their respective communities.
Recognizing the potential threat to national unity, Nana Kwame Bediako initiated dialogue between the two leaders. In a series of discreet meetings, he emphasized the importance of reconciliation for the peace and stability of the Bono and Ashanti regions, and by extension, the entire nation.
