The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has reassured farmers and chiefs in the Western North region of the government's commitment to completing all cocoa roads in the area.
The government through the Ghana Cocoa Board, began some road projects in the Western North Region. However, all the projects have been abandoned due to financial issues.
Mr. Boahen Aidoo, addressing farmers and traditional leaders in the Juaboso and Bia districts, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to prioritizing cocoa road projects as a means to improve farmers' welfare and drive growth in cocoa production.

He affirmed that the completion of these roads would facilitate easy access to markets, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance the overall productivity of cocoa farmers in the region.
He noted that the ongoing projects are part of a wider initiative to improve infrastructure in cocoa-producing areas across Ghana.

Mr Boahen Aidoo said, "Cocoa roads are vital for the transportation of the produce to various processing centres, and they understand the challenges farmers face in transporting cocoa."
"Government is committed to completing these road networks, including Benchema - Adjofua, Enchi - Eluibo, and other roads, as soon as possible so that farmers in the Western North can benefit from smoother, more efficient transportation," he indicated.

During the meeting, the CEO also outlined plans for continued collaboration between the government, Cocoa Board, and local authorities to ensure timely completion of the road works.

He further reassured the farmers that the government would continue to support them through various initiatives aimed at improving the cocoa industry.
On his part, the Sehwi Juaboso Cocoa Health and Extension Officer, Samuel Tabiri commended the CEO for educating the farmers on some farm practices.
