Ghanaian musician Safo Newman has revealed the source of his passion for music.
According to him, his dream of pursuing a career in music began during his tertiary education.
"It has always been my dream to do music from tertiary," he said.
He said this in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Safo Newman further explained that while he always possessed musical talent, his time at university provided the environment and opportunity for significant growth.
“Music was in me, but the talent started becoming or growing fast in me."
A key influence on his music, Newman explained, is classical music.
"Music is basically melodies," he said, "and when it comes to melody, classical music is top-notch.”
“So I learnt the melody from them and then transmitted it into our own setting, something we can digest."
This insightful comment highlights his approach to blending classical musical principles with contemporary Ghanaian sounds to create something both familiar and fresh.
His ability to bridge these musical worlds suggests a promising future for this talented artist.
