Nine months after his studio session with Sarkodie went viral, Safo Newman has revealed that the meeting did not result in any music project.
The duo met at Sarkodie’s studio in February 2024 after Safo Newman expressed a desire to personally thank the rapper for his acknowledgment.
Recalling the moment, Safo shared, “Sarkodie tweeted that I was original, liked my style, and looked forward to working with me. I was grateful and thanked him in his DM, but I felt it wasn’t enough. So, I asked if I could meet him personally to express my appreciation.”
Following their meeting, rumours spread that they had recorded an industry-changing banger set to be released later this year.
However, in a recent interview on Hitz FM, Safo indicated that no collaboration of that sort was ever recorded. He clarified that their meeting was purely conversational, and that “nothing happened” in terms of music production.
When asked if his denial was to please Sarkodie, who is known for his strict policy of keeping collaborations under wraps until official announcements, Safo Newman reiterated that there is no unreleased project being held back.
Obviously disappointed, the ‘Akokoa’ hitmaker remains optimistic that, at the right time, Sarkodie will bless him with a verse.
