Yango Ride, part of a global tech company Yango Group, has launched its Free Trip Insurance Programme in Ghana. This initiative, in collaboration with Glico Life Insurance, offers insurance coverage for all passengers in a car and partners’ drivers during the rides ordered via the Yango app across the country. This program aims to enhance the safety and security of all those involved in rides ordered via Yango at no additional cost. This launch marks the next step in Yango’s ongoing efforts to introduce more safety features across its services, including the recently implemented insurance coverage for Yango Delivery partners’ couriers.
The trip insurance program provides coverage for unforeseen incidents during the service’s rides, including accidental medical expenses, total permanent disability, bodily injury, or death.
"As a company, Yango cares about the safety and well-being of both the partners’ drivers and passengers. We ensure that everyone using our platform is well informed about the advanced safety features through regular safety training, in-app communication, and other activities. Partnering with Glico Life Insurance allows us to offer free trip insurance that gives everyone peace of mind when using our service," said Tom Ofonime, Country Manager of Yango Ride in Ghana.
This partnership between Yango and Glico Life Insurance is a meaningful contribution to enhancing safety measures in the ride-hailing industry. Both companies are dedicated to ensuring that everyone who uses the Yango platform can do so with confidence and reassurance.

Speaking at the launch event, Managing Director of Glico Life Insurance, Maame Dufie Achampong-Kyei emphasized the need for such collaborations and encouraged all road users and Ghanaians to stay safe and ensure they have insurance coverage ahead of the upcoming festive season and beyond.
‘’This partnership marks another step forward in realizing our mission of bringing insurance to the doorstep of every Ghanaian household. We are thrilled to partner with Yango to provide trip insurance coverage for both drivers and passengers using their platform. At GLICO, we are committed to providing peace of mind and security for all parties involved in rides. Together, we are contributing to improved road safety," she added.
The trip insurance launch is part of a series of support initiatives by Yango throughout the year to demonstrate care for partner drivers, couriers, and passengers. Recently, Yango Delivery partnered with Provident Insurance to provide insurance coverage for partner couriers. This personal insurance plan addresses medical expenses resulting from accidents that may occur while providing delivery services via Yango platform. Additionally, Yango has teamed up with Beaver Health and Standout Care to offer free medical screenings and subsidized healthcare to its partner drivers and couriers.
