Contrary to reports and suggestions that the just-ended presidential and parliamentary election experienced a low voter turnout, the Electoral Commission (EC) has reported a massive turnout.

Addressing the press, a Deputy Chair of the Commission in charge of Electoral Services, Benjamin Banor-Bio, said reports from across the country indicate widespread participation, reflecting the public’s enthusiasm for the democratic process.

“This has been one of the most seamless elections we have conducted,” the EC announced at a post-poll briefing. “The turnout has been very massive, and we are thrilled by the level of engagement from voters nationwide.” While exact figures are yet to be confirmed, the EC assured the public that detailed turnout data would be provided once results from all polling stations are fully collated.

The high voter turnout was attributed to strategic measures implemented by the Commission, including a significant increase in polling stations across the country. This move, according to the EC, drastically reduced congestion at voting centres and ensured a smoother process compared to previous elections.

He also highlighted efficiency improvements, with many voters spending less than three minutes to complete the process. This achievement, they noted, was key to accommodating the large number of participants without delays.

In addition to praising the electorate for their active participation, the EC commended the media for their professionalism during the elections. The Commission, however, urged journalists to maintain accuracy in reporting results to avoid confusion and misinformation.

As the nation awaits official results, the EC’s focus remains on ensuring transparency and upholding public confidence in the process.
