Member of Parliament for Okwakwei Central Constituency, Patrick Yaw Boamah has emphasized the need for the government to revise its approach to training Ghana's atheltes for the Olympic Games.
Speaking in Parliament, Boamah expressed his belief that Ghana has the potential to win more medals if the country reviews its methods.
''We have to relook how we train our Olympians and all our sports personalities to be able to win more medals in the coming Olympics.
He lamented Ghana's poor performance in the Olympics, citing the country's inadequate five medals in 72 years of participation.
''It is very sad that 72 years of Ghana’s participation in the Olympic games has only generated five medals.
Boamah specifically referenced Ghana's first Olympic medalist, ''Mr. Clement Quartey, who won a silver medal in 1952 only saw four additional medals added to what he got for the country.''
Ghana’s journey at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games ended in disappointment, with the nation failing to secure any medals.
