The 2024 Badminton President’s Cup Championship ended with Ahmad Abdul-Samad and Rachael Quarcoo crowned winners in the men’s and women’s singles finals.
The 2-day intense tournament held at the Borteyman Sports Complex pitted some of the best badminton players against each other in a quest to win the ultimate trophy.
Day-1 of the tournament was held on Thursday, December 27, where the preliminary rounds were held in both men’s and women’s divisions.
Other matches were also played in the men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and the mixed doubles categories.
Day-2 concluded on Friday with the final rounds in the various categories played at an intense pace, serving fans in the arena with the best serves and shots.
In the women’s singles final, top seed Racheal Quarcco edged second seed Moslena Ama Koramah Adu to be crowned champion.

The men’s division witnessed a spectacular finale between top seed Ahmad Abdul-Samad and Andy Amofa. The former maintaining his top seed status by beating his opponent in grand style.
Ahmad Abdul-Samad / Ebenezer Kwame Korampong defeated Obapomba Adu-Mintah / Andy Amofa in the men’s doubles final while Prospera Nantuo / Rabiatu Naa Ayorkor Ofoli thumped Charity Naah / Hilda Hectornia Napour Yengnone to emerge victorious in the women’s doubles final match.

In the mixed doubles final event, Moslena Ama Koramah Adu / Obapomba Adu-Mintah overcame Racheal Quarcco / Daniel Quarcoo to lift the title.
In the ceremonial match played on center court, President of the Ghana Badminton Association (GBA), Mr. Evan’s Yeboah, lauded the competitive performance of the players throughout the tournament.
“We’ve had the pleasure of having the best players across the country. It is indeed a prestigious event because it culminates the end of the year success of every training these athletes have had throughout the year”, Mr Yeboah said.
“The tournament has given us the opportunity to select athletes for the national team for next year [2025], and also to beef up our squad for next year”, he asserted.
The tournament was also expected to assess the strength of the top badminton players as the frentic 2025 calendar approaches.
The winners of the 2025 President Cup tournament were awarded trophies as well as other valuable prizes.
