The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has called on party supporters to assist in identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of infiltrating government institutions under the guise of being party sympathisers.
He urged party members to report any unlawful activities to the relevant authorities.
This appeal follows media reports alleging that some individuals claiming to be NDC supporters stormed the premises of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) on Wednesday morning.
The incidents have raised concerns about maintaining law and order in the aftermath of the party’s electoral victory.
In an interview with Citi FM, Ashie Moore refuted claims of similar disruptions at the Kotoka International Airport.
He stressed that the NDC does not endorse such behaviour and is committed to ensuring that its members act within the confines of the law.
“I want to take this opportunity to encourage our party members in the region to be vigilant,” he stated.
“They should report any unlawful activities to me as the regional chairman or directly to the appropriate authorities, including the regional police commander, so the necessary actions can be taken.”
Ashie Moore also disclosed that he had convened a meeting with the regional police commander to address the situation and agree on measures to restore calm.
He assured the public that state institutions would be safeguarded and that immediate steps were being taken to resolve the matter.
“We have agreed with the regional police command to ensure the protection of state establishments and institutions,” he said.
“I can confidently promise that within 24 hours, law and order will be fully restored.” Ashie Moore reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to upholding peace and order as the party transitions into government.
