A delegation from the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, led by the General Superintendent, Rev Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in Accra.
The visit aimed to congratulate her on her historic election victory, offer prayers, and share insights into the activities and plans of the church in Ghana.

During the visit, Rev Wengam praised the Vice President for breaking barriers and inspiring women and girls nationwide.
“You have made women and girls proud, and you continue to inspire them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we trust that you and the President will be led by God in all your decisions,” he stated.
Rev Wengam provided a brief overview of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, which is 94 years old and preparing to celebrate its centenary in 2026.

He highlighted the church’s significant contributions to the nation, including establishing hospitals in Nakpanduri (1950) and Saboba, as well as operating over 250 schools across the country.
Touching on the church’s growth, Rev Wengam shared that Assemblies of God, Ghana, boasts a membership of over 800,000 individuals and 4,200 pastors.
He described these milestones as remarkable achievements in both membership and leadership.

He also emphasised the church’s focus on compassionate ministry, stating, “We believe we don’t only preach the gospel but must also show compassion, as Jesus did, to make the gospel complete.”
Rev Wengam revealed plans for the church’s centenary celebration in 2026, which is expected to bring together the global Assemblies of God family.
“With Assemblies of God present in nearly 195 countries, this will be a blessing not just to us but to the entire nation,” he noted.

Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang expressed her gratitude to the Assemblies of God leadership for their visit and prayers.
She encouraged young women and girls to aspire to greater heights while trusting in God’s guidance.
“Look past me and aim even higher as you listen to the Lord's guidance,” she advised.
