MTN Ghana has launched its 2026 Sustainability Month at the company’s Head office in Accra, with a call for the company to move sustainability from awareness to measurable impact.
Speaking at the launch, CEO of MTN, Mr. Stephen Blewett, said that sustainability is now central to MN’s Ambition 2030 strategy, describing ESG as “a leadership discipline” that turns shared value from intention into results.

He disclosed that the month-long initiative under the theme ‘Together for a Sustainable Future: Small Actions, Big Impact’ reflects MTN’s commitment to responsible growth. “For the past two years, we used one week to focus on sustainability.
We are taking a full month because the agenda is bigger. The responsibility is bigger,” he stated.
Highlighting progress, Mr. Blewett said MTN’s biodegradable SIM has reached over 4.7 million customers and kept an estimated 10,288 kilogrammes of plastic out of circulation.

Under Project Zero, the company has also installed 3.02 megawatts of solar power across more than half of its sites, offices and data centres.
On the social front, he pointed to 19 years of Y'ello Care, the MTN Ghana Foundation’s GHS3 million Vegetable Hub of Excellence training over 1,000 youth in climate-smart farming, and the company’s position as Ghana’s number one corporate blood donor.

Women now also make up close to 44 percent of MTN Ghana’s workforce. For economic impact, Mr. Blewett said MTN has invested over one billion dollars in its network in the last five years and graduated the first cohort of 50 SME CEOs from its Mini MBA programme with Absa Bank and NOVA Business School Africa. “As we mark 30 years, the next 30 years will demand more responsibility, more innovation, more resilience and more impact,” he said. “When Ghana grows, MTN grows.
